Flavoured Spritzers

Over the festive season, it's easy to get into the habit of consuming more alcohol than usual. Alcohol is not only liquid calories and unhealthy for your body if consumed in large quantities, but it is also high in sugar. So if you are watching your sugar intake or trying to celebrate as guilt free or mindfully as possible, this is a great alternative for you.

Make sure to use a beautiful glass for your spritzer, that way it feels special or like a treat. Perhaps it's just me, but something always tastes better out of a beautiful glass!

Rose Spritzer

  • Rosé wine
  • Woolworths Rose flavoured sparkling water
  • Berry ice cubes

Lime and Ginger Spritzer

  • White wine (Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • Woolworths Lime and Ginger flavoured Sparkling water
  • Lime/lemon ice cubes

For the spritzer pour the wine and sparkling water into a glass on a 1:1 ratio, this not only decreases the alcohol and sugar content but also allows the flavour of the sparkling water to be subtle but enjoyable. Original Spritzer recipes work on a 3 part wine to 1 part soda ratio so adjust as you please but I find a 1:1 ration just perfect.

Low in alcohol and low in sugar but still delicious to toast with your friends.

Celebrating guilt-free.

For the berry or lemon ice cubes. Place some berries like raspberries and lemon/lime pieces into an ice cube tray and fill with water. Freeze to use in your drinks to add another flavour level. You can be adventurous and add some mint or a bit of rosemary to layer the flavours.
