Paintings in the Post #901 Protea

Paintings in the post 901

The protea has long been a symbol of rebirth and beauty. It has mythological associations to change and transformation and symbolizes courage and diversity. The protea has been known to emerge from wildfire with extravagant colours. The dormant buds survive wildfires only to emerge stronger. Their root system allows them to survive even the toughest conditions.

In 1976 the King protea was declared South Africa’s national flower because of its resemblance to a crown although it’s other properties seem more fitting now than ever after a week of unrest, burning fires and destruction in KZN.

I hope that wherever you are that you, your friends and your families that may be in our beautiful province were safe this week. I pray that like our beautiful national flower we too can emerge stronger.
