Paintings in the Post #898 – Red Rose
It’s Winter! Although in some northern parts Durban’s winter may be considered Summer! But by Durban’s standards we had a rather cold patch a while ago and so I salvaged the last of the garden roses thinking that was them DONE and ready for winter pruning.
But Mother Nature is most generous with her bounty! If you saw my Instagram stories this week, I shared a little lunchtime stroll around my winter garden (cat at my heels) and I shared the glorious velvety red rose that had suddenly been gifted by Mother Nature – in the middle of winter! The most glorious large, velvety red bloom standing tall. I left her out in the garden to enjoy the winter sun until just before she lost her petals, and then I brought her into the studio to paint.
A THANK YOU to Mother Nature for winter gifts!
